In the Duais Bashō Haiku Poetry Competition, post-primary students are invited to compose a haiku in the English or Irish language and submit their haiku for adjudication by 17 October 2025.
Sa gComórtas Filíochta Haiku Duais Bashō tugtar cuireadh do dhaltaí iar-bhunscoile haiku a chumadh, i mBéarla nó i nGaeilge nó go dátheangach, agus a gcuid haiku a chur faoi bhráid mholtóra faoin 17 Deireadh Fómhair 2025.
Entries will be judged by renowned writer and member of Aosdána, Gabriel Rosenstock, who said of the 2024 competition: “It’s hard to define the haiku spirit.… A true haiku is an experience experiencing itself. I was looking out for haiku that I felt were actually experienced by the haikuist, experienced through one or more of the senses, not imagined or conjured out of the blue, but experienced.”
The competition will culminate in a special celebration in Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin on 21 November, as part of IMRAM’s annual festival, where students will have the opportunity to perform on a professional stage, meet fellow young poets, and take part in a vibrant community of Irish-language and poetry enthusiasts.
Críochnóidh an comórtas le ceiliúradh speisialta in Amharclann Smock Alley, Baile Átha Cliath ar an 21 Samhain, mar chuid d’Fhéile IMRAM. Le linn na hócáide seo beidh deis ag daltaí cur i láthair a dhéanamh ar stáitse proifisiúnta, bualadh le filí óga eile, agus páirt a ghlacadh i bpobal bríomhar fhilíocht na Gaeilge
