Vision Boards & Mapping Techniques

Vision Boards help students to document things in a different way so that ideas that are in the head can become tangible in the form of a collage. They help to get the imagination going and become a physical representation of goals that individual students or class groups are aiming to achieve. Vision boards are an ideal way to help students to look forward e.g. set goals for the term/ year, goals for well-being, set a vision for a project, a career etc. They can be adapted to all groups, ages, levels and topics and support creative thinking.

Visual Mapping and reframing is a staged examination of a topic on a single sheet of paper to encourage critical and creative thinking around a textual or visual subject.

This hands-on approach helps students to visually map and capture ideas. Reframing can be used by student to develop ideas for projects, reports and presentations and is a useful tool when starting to explore ideas, research a topic, find relevant key words etc.

This hands-on online workshop will take you through the two techniques: Vision Boards and Visual Mapping.

You will need:
Some large sheets of paper (e.g. A4 paper taped together, wallpaper or brown paper)
A selection of old magazines with pictures
Glue stick / sellotape
Scissors
Markers
You will also need a table space beside your computer where you can work.

Your experience will be very much enhanced if you use a laptop with camera and microphone.
