The Magic of Music (Online Summer Course)

Overview
This exciting online music summer course has been running for the last 20 years and is based on 29 years of hands on classroom experience with children of all ages and abilities. This course provides practical, enjoyable and easy to follow modules with links to live Magic of Music lessons and other relevant material.

All materials can be adapted to various age levels and will leave you with a wealth of musical ideas and seasonal material which will take you from September to June. Every strand of the curriculum is explored in each module with special emphasis on Composition and Music Literacy.

Facilitator - Catherine Dunphy
Catherine Dunphy has extensive experience in the Special School setting and offers ideas as to how to adapt any of the lesson ideas upon request. She is also the creator and MD of the dynamic music programme ‘The Magic of Music.’ A qualified and experienced teacher at both primary and secondary level, Catherine has dedicated her career for the last 22 years to bringing music to as many people, old and young, as possible in a fun and accessible manner. During this time Catherine has also worn the hat of a stage performer, an events manager and corporate team builder, a mother and now a busy entrepreneur.

Weekly she works with over 1,000 children nationwide from 4yrs to 18yrs across a wide range of intellectual and emotional needs and varied socio economic backgrounds. The common ground between everyone, is the natural ability to relate to music. This powerful tool can be harnessed and used for healing, de-stressing, instilling compassion/acceptance/happiness and generally dealing better with the day to day events in each of our lives.

The programme has been met with great success in all the schools, clubs and companies that Catherine has brought it into. She believes that in the world we live in today, music can be that effortless way to the path into the inner self and bring a knowing of oneself that will ultimately lead to a recognition of ones own potential and ability for happiness.

Registration is subject to availability.

This course is approved for E.P.V. certification by the Department of Education.

In line with DES Circular 0037/1997, participants attending Summer Courses accrue entitlements as follows:

• Full Attendance (20 Hours): 3 EPV Days
• 4 Days Attendance (16 Hours): 2 EPV Days
• No EPV days will be awarded for less than 4 days attendance

If you intend completing more than one EPV approved course this summer, you must fully complete one course before commencing another.
