Crisis Management & Staff Response (Behaviours of Concern) - Face to Face (WTAC)

Crisis Management & Staff Response (Behaviours of Concern) - Face to Face (WTAC)

Course Description:
Supporting pupils who present with Behaviours of Concern is a growing priority in Irish primary/post primary education. Schools are increasingly tasked with providing inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments that align with the Department of Education’s commitment to wellbeing, early intervention, and positive behaviour approaches. In line with national policy and guidance from the National Council for Special Education (NCSE), schools are encouraged to adopt evidence-informed practices that promote understanding, prevention, and effective response to behaviours that may challenge.

Our Behaviours of Concern course has been specifically tailored for Irish primary school settings and reflects the principles emphasised across Department of Education guidance, including whole-school wellbeing, the use of proactive rather than reactive strategies, and the creation of supportive, equitable environments for all learners. The course also complements the NCSE’s focus on inclusive education, functional assessment, multi-element planning, and the development of positive behaviour support (PBS) frameworks.

Designed for teachers, SNAs, principals, and support staff, this training provides practical tools, clear frameworks, and school-ready strategies to help staff understand the function of behaviour, reduce escalation, and support pupils in a safe, respectful, and effective manner. By grounding all approaches in current national expectations and best-practice models, the course empowers schools to build consistent, compassionate, and compliant responses to behaviours of concern.
