FASD in Classrooms (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder) SNA's

Special Needs Assistants

  This workshop will provide an overview of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD)

  • It will include some of the most common associated behavioural and cognitive difficulties

  • SNAs will be provided with simple/practical adaptions they can adopt to support the needs of students in the classroom while supporting teachers’ teaching

SNAs will: 

1.    Gain basic knowledge of the contributing factors and incidence rates for FASD in Ireland 

  1. Become familiar with some common signs and symptoms of FASD in students, and the typical difficulties for both student and SNA when these are misunderstood.

  2. Practical ways to improve the fit between the unique needs of the student and their role as SNA
