Aistear An introduction: Planning and organising for Play

This workshop will introduce you to the key ideas in Aistear and show you how you can get started with using some of these ideas in your work across the primary curriculum. These ideas will be part of the new language curriculum which will be ready for infant classes for the 2015-16 school year. Aistear highlights play as an important teaching and learning methodology. But how can play possibly work in infant classrooms and with only one adult in the room? Come to this workshop for practical suggestions on how to organise space and resources and plan for an hour of play per day in your classroom. All teachers will get practical advice as to how to make it work in a classroom setting and see it in action in the classroom. Over the 3 weeks, teachers will see first-hand how to implement Aistear into their infant’s school day and get a feel for it in a busy infant room.
