Language for Learning Course
This course will look at research that has been carried out in local primary schools to identify children with language issues and how best to support them in school. The course aims to provide teachers with the skills to develop children’s vocabulary in a classroom setting through storytelling.
The course is suitable for teachers of infant classes and special education teachers. By the end of the session you will have practiced the dialogic reading techniques that research has shown to be effective in language development. Teachers will be provided with a resource pack that will enable them to deliver a six week storytelling programme in the classroom. It is recommended that a minimum of two teachers from each school attend as the programme is most effective when there are two adults supporting its delivery. Closing date for application Friday, 10th November 2017.
